NTP Time Servers

NTP is a networking protocol that synchronizes computer clocks over data networks. It has been in use since 1985 and was designed by David L. Mills of the University of Delaware. NTP aims to synchronize all computers within a few milliseconds of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and uses the intersection algorithm to select accurate time servers. It can maintain time within tens of milliseconds over the public Internet and achieve better than one millisecond accuracy in local networks. NTP can be used in a client-server or peer-to-peer relationship, and sends timestamps using UDP on port 123. It also warns of impending leap second adjustments but does not transmit local time zone or daylight saving time information. NTPv4 is the current protocol, which is backward compatible with NTPv3. Novus offers NTP V04 in different configurations.
